{"id":14353,"date":"2023-05-30T22:36:57","date_gmt":"2023-05-31T03:36:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.anniee.net\/?page_id=14353"},"modified":"2025-06-26T12:13:58","modified_gmt":"2025-06-26T17:13:58","slug":"travelogue-chicago-with-kids-part-3","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.anniee.net\/?page_id=14353","title":{"rendered":"Travelogue: Chicago with Kids, Part 3"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>April 2023<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>Where We Stayed: Homewood Suites by Hilton Chicago Downtown South Loop<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Last day, here we go!<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Unfortunately, on night 2 I developed a\u00a0<em>bad<\/em> migraine (overstimulation was probably to blame).\u00a0 Mike and the kids went to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eddebevics.com\/\">Ed Debevic&#8217;s<\/a> for breakfast on Sunday morning and I stayed behind to try to deal with my\u00a0<em>situation<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li>I was able to join them for the final activity of the trip: the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.museumoficecream.com\/chicago\/\">Museum of Ice Cream<\/a>.\u00a0 This wasn&#8217;t so much a museum as it was an interactive experience.\u00a0 Kinda like the Color Factory, but ice cream themed. It was weird and pretty fun and the kids loved it. Instead of a ball pit at the end of this experience, you got to dip your toes into a sprinkle pit.\u00a0 Though we all agreed that the sprinkles looked more like plastic hot dogs than anything else!<\/li>\n<li>We walked from the Museum of Ice Cream to the State\/Lake L stop and took the Orange Line back to Roosevelt.\u00a0 We picked up our luggage at the hotel and headed to Union Station to catch our train back to Wisconsin.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">This trip was so fun, but it was also\u00a0<em>so much<\/em> crammed into 2.5 days!\u00a0 If I could do it all over again, I&#8217;d work another day into the trip just so it could be a little more relaxed.\u00a0 But that&#8217;s tough with the kids&#8217; school schedules, etc. Other random thoughts:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We bought <a href=\"https:\/\/www.citypass.com\/chicago\">City Passes<\/a> and they saved us money! Totally worth it if you plan on doing\u00a0<em>many<\/em> museums and activities during your vacation.<\/li>\n<li>We either walked or took the L everywhere we went.\u00a0 I felt pretty safe during the majority of our time in Chicago.\u00a0 The only time the situation got iffy was on the Red Line, so maybe take extra caution with that line.<\/li>\n<li>Allowing the kids to pick\u00a0<em>all the things<\/em> was a lot of fun. They picked fun stuff and we had no objections!<\/li>\n<li>We loved our hotel. Location was ideal for Museum Campus and also just a few blocks away from the Roosevelt L stop.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">&#8217;til next time, Chicago!<\/p>\n<p
