{"id":15016,"date":"2024-03-24T17:11:55","date_gmt":"2024-03-24T22:11:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.anniee.net\/?page_id=15016"},"modified":"2025-06-26T20:21:09","modified_gmt":"2025-06-27T01:21:09","slug":"travelogue-quebec-city","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.anniee.net\/?page_id=15016","title":{"rendered":"Travelogue: Quebec City"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>September 2023<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>Where We Stayed: Fairmont Le Ch\u00e2teau Frontenac<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Goodness&#8230; we took this trip in September and I&#8217;m finally getting around to writing this recap in March!<\/li>\n<li>Quebec City had been on my mom&#8217;s bucket list for years and years. The city had a lot of appeal &#8211; cute, quaint, and from what we could tell, you could feel like you&#8217;re in Europe&#8230; but with only a 2.5 hour flight to get there.<\/li>\n<li>We traveled to Quebec City for a long weekend but a few days before we were scheduled to leave, I had food poisoning. Oh noooo. I recovered enough to be able to take the trip, but we didn&#8217;t really go out to eat or do anything exciting because I wasn&#8217;t feeling 100%&#8230; stable. I ate a lot of scones from Starbucks and hoped for the best.<\/li>\n<li>We arrived on a Wednesday, late afternoon; and returned home a few days later on a Saturday. So what did we do for our 2 days in France-but-not-France?\n<ul>\n<li>Jeanne loves a Hop On Hop Off bus tour, so that was our first order of business. Truth be told, I love them, too. It&#8217;s a great way to get the entire lay of the land &#8212; and learn a few things along the way.\u00a0 We took our time on the bus tour, and then spent the rest of our first full day shopping in the Petit Champlain district. It was cute beyond words!<\/li>\n<li>On our second day, we hopped back on the bus for a ride to the Joan of Arc Garden. It was gorgeous and Jeanne gathered inspiration for next year&#8217;s garden.\u00a0 We walked back to our hotel and did some more shopping\/walking around.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Before we knew it, it was time to pack up and head home.\u00a0 2 full days was plenty to get a feel for Quebec City and see the main highlights &#8212; but I would LOVE to go back again some day and try so many of the restaurants we missed.\u00a0 It just wasn&#8217;t fun to be on a trip while recovering from food poisoning!<\/li>\n<li>I really would recommend Quebec City to anyone. It was a beautiful city and while the official language is French, nearly everyone speaks English so you won&#8217;t feel lost at sea.
