{"id":8612,"date":"2019-01-28T12:51:20","date_gmt":"2019-01-28T17:51:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.anniee.net\/?page_id=8612"},"modified":"2025-06-21T07:36:51","modified_gmt":"2025-06-21T12:36:51","slug":"travelogue-disneyland-3","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.anniee.net\/?page_id=8612","title":{"rendered":"Travelogue: Disneyland 2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong>January 2019<\/strong><\/em><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><em>Where We Stayed: Hyatt Regency Orange County<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">My mom and I went to California for a week in January.\u00a0 We were anxious about the trip because of the government shutdown\u00a0<em>situation<\/em> (we were planning on going to a National Park and all, but more on that in a later post), but we had a\u00a0<em>wonderful<\/em> trip.\u00a0 Perfect weather, smooth travel, and great experiences.\u00a0 We felt extra lucky because it rained non-stop for a week (in Southern California!) right after we headed home.\u00a0 I always appreciate those instances when I feel like the universe is giving me a hug.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">We spent one day at Disneyland, one day at Joshua Tree National Park, and a few days in Palm Springs.\u00a0 I went to Disneyland in 2012 and 2016, and I like it more and more with each trip.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We stayed at the Hyatt Regency Orange County, which is where I stayed on my previous two trips.\u00a0 We really like it.\u00a0 It&#8217;s clean, convenient, has a shuttle to\/from the parks, and has a Starbucks in the lobby.\u00a0 What more could we want?<\/li>\n<li>Given that our first day was a travel day, we didn&#8217;t have the energy to go to the parks that evening.\u00a0 So we went to Downtown Disney instead and did a little shopping.\u00a0 The thing I\u00a0<em>LOVE<\/em> about Disneyland is how close together everything is.\u00a0 You can walk between Disneyland, California Adventure, and Downtown Disney easily and quickly &#8212; no bus or monorail is necessary to get you from one to the other.<\/li>\n<li>The next day, Tuesday, we spent the whole day at the parks (and walked 18,000 steps!).\u00a0 We didn&#8217;t plan ahead for Fastpasses, so we didn&#8217;t do many rides or shows.\u00a0 Most of the joy for me is just being there &#8212; and soaking up the Disney atmosphere, food, and cuteness.\u00a0 I say it all the time, but to me, the parks feel like a warm, comforting hug.<\/li>\n<li>I got to see Pixar Pier at California Adventure for the first time.\u00a0 It was formerly Paradise Pier.\u00a0 Disney re-branded the whole &#8220;land&#8221; to be Pixar-themed &#8212; and it is\u00a0<em>ADORABLE<\/em>.\u00a0 Two very enthusiastic thumbs up.<\/li>\n<li>My other favorite land at California Adventure is Cars Land, which is weird because I&#8217;m not crazy about Cars as a movie.\u00a0 The land is just so precious though &#8212; Route 66-themed and completely charming.<\/li>\n<li>We ate\u00a0<em>a lot<\/em> of Disney treats, my favorite being the Churro Toffee.
