{"id":8659,"date":"2019-01-28T13:25:14","date_gmt":"2019-01-28T18:25:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.anniee.net\/?page_id=8659"},"modified":"2025-06-21T07:40:54","modified_gmt":"2025-06-21T12:40:54","slug":"travelogue-palm-springs","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.anniee.net\/?page_id=8659","title":{"rendered":"Travelogue: Palm Springs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong>January 2019<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\n<em>Where We Stayed:\u00a0 Kimpton Rowan Palm Springs<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">I think Palm Springs is my new favorite vacation spot.\u00a0 I immediately fell in love with it and I fell hard.\u00a0 It&#8217;s small.\u00a0 It&#8217;s gorgeous.\u00a0 It&#8217;s full of mid-century modern\u00a0<em>everything<\/em>.\u00a0 There are dogs everywhere.\u00a0 It&#8217;s basically everything I love.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We stayed at the Kimpton Rowan, which we LOVED.\u00a0 It&#8217;s a beautiful hotel and our room was so aesthetically pleasing &#8212; whites, grays, blues.\u00a0 So calming.\u00a0 The location was also ideal &#8212; right on the &#8220;main drag&#8221; for shopping, within steps of a Starbucks (we joke that it&#8217;s not a vacation without 35 iced tea lemonades from Starbucks), etc.<\/li>\n<li>Given our travel schedule (we did a lot of driving on this trip &#8212; jumping from Anaheim to Joshua Tree to Palm Springs, etc), we really only had one full day in Palm Springs.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve already vowed to make a week-long return in a future winter.<\/li>\n<li>I wanted to drive around and see all the &#8220;famous&#8221; mid-century modern houses &#8212; you know, the ones with the colorful doors that look like they belong in a magazine?\u00a0 So that we did.\u00a0 I probably drove my mom nuts driving around and around and around the same neighborhood, stopping every 30 seconds to take photos.\u00a0 I chuckled because a few houses had signs that said &#8220;no photography allowed.&#8221;\u00a0 Nice try.\u00a0 I&#8217;m on a public street, I can take pictures.\u00a0 If you didn&#8217;t want attention, you shouldn&#8217;t have purchased this type of house, ya know? (and I&#8217;m always a fan of the &#8220;ask forgiveness not permission&#8221; mantra)<\/li>\n<li>We visited the <a href=\"https:\/\/thesaguaro.com\/\">Saguaro<\/a> hotel (aka the rainbow hotel).\u00a0 I&#8217;ve seen so many photos of it and given that it literally looks like a rainbow, I had to see it in person.\u00a0 I&#8217;m glad we decided not to stay there because the hotel is, well, pretty sad.\u00a0 It wasn&#8217;t very clean, smelled like cigarettes, and had a real party vibe to it (which hey, if that&#8217;s what you want, cool! But it wouldn&#8217;t have worked for us).\u00a0 But OMG, I still love that it&#8217;s basically a rainbow.<\/li>\n<li>After our short visit to the Saguaro, we went to breakfast at <a href=\"https:\/\/eatatelmers.com\/\">Elmer&#8217;s<\/a> because, well, duh.\u00a0 Much to our surprise and delight, it was one of the best meals of our trip.\u00a0 Even my mom, who is not a fan of breakfast foods (Ron Swanson would be aghast), really enjoyed it.\u00a0 I had a gigantic German pancake and some really fabulous bacon.\u00a0 I was a happy camper.\u00a0 I also bought 4 of coffee mugs because, well, duh.<\/li>\n<li>We then went to the <a href=\"http:\/\/moortenbotanicalgarden.com\/\">Moorten Botanical Gardens<\/a>.\u00a0 Loved it!\u00a0 I&#8217;m a sucker for succulents.<\/li>\n<li>In the afternoon, we drove about 30 minutes to Cabazon to visit the outlet mall, which was a bust.\u00a0 We made our way back to Palm Springs and did some more shopping, took a walk, had some Mexican food for dinner, and packed our suitcases up to leave the next day.<\/li>\n<li>I absolutely, 100% loved Palm Springs.\u00a0 I can see why so many people want to vacation and\/or retire there.\u00a0 I can&#8217;t wait to return.<\/li>\n<li>And thanks again to my momma, my best friend and favorite travel partner.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a only rooftop pool in all of Palm Springs.\u00a0 I find that hard to believe (as it gets to be, like, 100 degrees there).<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.anniee.net\/?attachment_id=8631\"
