Travelogue: Chicago

August 2016
Where We Stayed: The Westin Chicago River North

I went to Chicago to celebrate my 32nd birthday. Our first stop, on the way, was the Mars Cheese Castle. This is an icon and is just what you would imagine it to be: a building full of cheese and cheese-related products. Heaven, basically. Once I got our fill of dairy, I was back on the road! Had din din at Smith & Wollensky and it was amazing. The drinks were strong and the food was delicious.

The next day I grabbed donuts from Glazed & Infused, had lunch with a friend, walked around the city in search of a mini golf course (never did find one… even though I could have sworn Navy Pier had one), and then napped. I went to dinner that night at Mercadito, which was just okay. The food was decent but the atmosphere was unbearably loud. Am I officially old now? I’m complaining about the loudness. I’m officially old. But seriously, it was awful.

Sunday, MY BIRTHDAY, was spent sleeping in, eating more donuts, visiting the Bean, and taking a architecture river cruise. Perfection!
