Travelogue: Bryce Canyon National Park

August 2016
Where We Stayed: Best Western Plus Bryce Canyon Grand Hotel

My mom and I visited Bryce Canyon National Park and as luck would have it, we were there on the 100th Birthday of the Parks system! We didn’t even plan it that way. My mom has wanted to see Bryce for years and we finally got there. It’s my favorite national park (granted, I’ve only been to ten of them, but still). We flew into Salt Lake City, drove for hours, spent a day and a half at Bryce, and then went back to Salt Lake City to head home. A lot of driving in not much time — but we made it work!

One of the things that always surprises me about our national parks is that the surrounding areas are so bleak – not many restaurants to choose from, etc. It’s bizarre. For example, our dinner choices were so slim that we decided on Subway. But maybe the majority of the visitors camp and do that whole thing. Who knows. Either way, I love our national parks and I’m so grateful that they have been preserved!

PS: Salt Lake City traffic isĀ insane.
