The End

2023 marks the last year that I’ll be doing the monthly photo/life re-caps. It’s too much work — and I think everyone who reads this is also friends with me on either Facebook or Instagram, so you can see everything there.

I really started the monthlies for my dad. He wasn’t on social media back in the day, but always wanted a way to see my photos. But now he’s gone. My biggest fan and most loyal blog reader. So it’s time for a wrap on these.

This blog will still exist and I will continue to update the Travelogues page (I’m woefully behind but I’m working on it!).

I’m not sure who is still reading this blog, but thanks for sticking around all these years.

End of 2023.

1. What did you do in 2023 that you’d never done before?
Grieved the loss of a parent.

2. Did you keep your new years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I didn’t make resolutions for 2023. But I think my resolutions for 2024 are going to be: get hot and don’t die.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Nope.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
My dad.

5. What countries did you visit?
Canada & Morocco.

6. What would you like to have in 2024 that you lacked in 2023?
A healthier body.

7. What date from 2023 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
January 5, 2023. See question #4.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
I’m not sure. I survived it?

9. What was your biggest failure?
It was a shit year; I had no failures, 2023 failed me.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
LOL yes. A few bouts of food poisoning. Fun.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
Every year I make a photobook on Shutterfly, so that’s always my favorite annual purchase.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Everyone who has helped me to grieve.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Nearly everyone. We are living in angry, awful times.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Travel!

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Taylor Swift! The Eras tour was amazing.

Exercising.

Depression/stress eating.

20. How did you spend Christmas?
With Mike, kids, and mom in Oshkosh.

21. What was your favorite TV program?
I didn’t watch a ton of new TV this year.

22. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?
It’s a waste of energy to hate people.

23. What was the best book you read?
I don’t even know. I don’t know if I read anything in 2023. I used to be such a big reader, pre-pandemic, and now I can’t stand the thought. It really upsets me.

24. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Hmmm. I don’t know.

25. What did you want and get?
Successful and safe travels.

26. What did you want and not get?
For my dad to get better.

27. What was your favorite film of this year?
BARBIE!!!!!!

28. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned 39 and spent it here in Oshkosh with a Taylor Swift + Barbie-themed party.

29. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Um, to have my dad be here and not dead.

30. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2023?
Stretchy pants.

31. What kept you sane?
Sadieboo.

Taylor Swift

There are too many to list. TOO. MANY.

My Dad. I miss him so much.

I don’t even know.
